When I took delivery of my 03 the rear end was low almost 2 quarts of gear oil. The other day I checked my 06 figguring the same. Sure enough. It took approx 1.5 quarts of gear oil to get it to the gm spec leval.

I guess GM doesn't want to spend a little extra and fill the axle? I know they are prone to leaking, but a new axle will run very hot when breaking in and that is when it needs all the fluid capacity it can get

My dealer goes through the vehicles that they sell to be sure this does not happen.

The local dealer service dept said most, if not all trucks are delivered with low levels of fluid. They (the dealer) will always top off before they sell the truck. One truck got past the service dept once (the customer was in a hurry) and the transfer case ran dry within a week.

The "General" and "Jerry Springer"... I just sometimes don't understand.
