View Full Version : A Heads Up On Vibration
My '90 6.2 had a vibration anytime I got over 62 or so. I balanced the tires, checked u-joints & etc with no luck. I just kept it around 60 and got by. I had to change the A/C compressor several days ago. I got out yesterday on the interstate and realized the vibration was not there anymore. So, I drove her 70 on the trip.
I guess the bearing was going bad on the old compressor for a good while. It didn't make any difference on the vibration if the A/C was on or off.

Hello All,
ZZ: Damn that is something I would never thought of!!! Thank you for the post.
Don
I hate to swear that was it, but it is the only change that I have done that could've eliminated it. I have another 200 mile round trip Thursday. I'll pay close attention to make sure it is gone.
It would be rough to check for this on trucks like mine with the serpentine belt.
Update: I have not felt the vibration since replacing the first bad compressor. Evidently, that was my problem.

So how did the vibration feel,as in steering wheel, seat of the pants, dash etc.
The whole truck would start vibrating around 64 mph and get worse as speed increased.
