Dr Lee wrote about the use of Red STP (the stuff for 4 cylinder engines) in our diesels and I gave it a try. My first oil change I mixed in 1 bottle as I was pouring in the first gallon and then topped off my truck to the full mark.
I was quite surprised as I approached the 2000-2500 mile mark as my oil level had not dropped as it has in the past as usually I will need a quart by 3000 miles. Not this time - it didn't need the usual top off.
I hesitated to write about it here until I did it again, but I'm on my 3rd oil change now and can confirm that it has reduced oil consumption on my truck when used with dino (Rotella 15w-40). I'm switching to Rotella 5w-40 synthetic for the winter and will see how it works there.
I always thought STP was best used for knurling valve guides, but I'm with Dr Lee on the Red stuff for diesels.
