I drove it in the garage last week with the 406 gas engine.

Good clearance with the new hydroboost set up.

Most of my clearance worries will be easily fixed. Now its time to strip the body and prep for paint.

Wow! That looks very sweet and clean. I like the olive drab and black paintjob on the engine as well.

Keep us up to date!

Hi Poolmike
Nice project. I noticed in your pic's that you have cork gaskets under your valve covers. Its been discussed that the cork will end up leaking, making a mess of your nice clean engin.
I'v never tried the cork gaskets on these engins, but have had great luck with RTV silicon. Two years since i sealed my covers and they are still dry and clean.Make sure the surfaces are dry and oilfree. And if you can leave it set up overnight it helps.
Have fun with your project.

Actually the are no gaskets at all, its just some surface rust on the machined/unpainted surfaces. The motor assembly should be complete this Sunday. Silicone will be used instead of the gaskets.

Careful with the injection lines and the hydro - that is where I had clearance issues.

The injector lines were a concern, but once they were installed, they fit with an inch of clearance.

The intake is just a stock 6.5 turbo intake. I think I am going to change that to a 6.5n/a intake off a 3500 van. I saw one the other day and it looked a lot like a big block Holley Dominator intake.

It's just a money pit.
