View Full Version : Bell housing bolts
Getting ready to switch long blocks. Does anyone know size and thread pitch so I can have longer bolts ready for engine stand attachment?

Depends on model year.... GM switched to metric bellhousing bolt threads in the last few years of production. Previous bolt threads were SAE.

My experience with these engines shows that all used 3/8' NC up to '97 for sure. No experience with anything newer. When I hang an engine on my stand I always use the same bolts 3/8"NC X 4". Have never worked on Military so unsure about them. Good luck! Gord

The newer ones are metric as MP said. Can't remember right off, though, the size...10 mm 1.5 I think.
