View Full Version : 6.5 dual turbo
The local paper reports on the new Willie's Willys pickup, a hot rod produced with Willy Nelson as having a dual turbo 6.5 L diesel with sparkplugs, producing 700 hp. and a 6 speed automatic transmission. Has anyone heard of this with maybe better details than the paper can report? The engine is made by AM General, and of course the big push is the Biodiesel and the body is made from soy resin. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/business/20060209-9999-1b9biodiesel.html Check it out.

Cool. I sincerely hope Bio-diesel pans out as a cost effective alternative to petroleum.
I read through the marketing glitz and am betting it was edited incorrectly.
It says something like "it has spark plugs to reduce particulate emissions at start up". Realistically that sounds like glowplugs to me.

I'll bet Peter would like to know how to get an estimated 38mpg(6.2 l/100km) on his twin turbo truck.
Also, We should all want to see how they are going to get 350hp on the street. The prototype 700hp would make many a Dodge owner envious. Might be some good ideas there. Maybe we're running the wrong fuel

Dyno/Lie detector is in order for the 700HP figure.
Maybe they're talking about Tq. ?
Even at 350HP, I'm not so sure...
We all know where the crank will end up at that power level in a 6.5 without a lil reinforcement down below (splayed).

I'm surprised that I haven't heard anything about this, seeing as MSSU is only 10 minutes from where I'm typing this, and Springfield is only 60 miles away. I have seen Dennis Weaver on local TV, promoting MSSU, but I think he still spends all of his time in California.
A twin turbo 38mpg 6.5L with sparkplugs and 700hp? It makes you wonder if ANY of this story is true....

38mpg, 700HP, 6.5TD. These numbers do not compute. It would seem that about 300 - 350 is pushing the limit for these engines - but 700? I don't buy it. Maybe it is getting 38 miles per gallon of diesel, but is burning B80, which would bring it down to under 8 mpg. That is still pretty good for 700. What a minute (checks the calendar) it is to early for an April Fools joke. I call shenanigans.
is there any more news about the 6.5 twin turbo?
Wait a dang minute here....
Forget Willie Neslon and the Willys ---->
Darryl Hannah has a diesel El Camino?.... That's my kinda woman... now if that El Camino has a cooler full of ice cold PBR in the back, and a trailer behind it witha bass boat, that'd be pure heaven-on-earth. :D
Seriously, I wanna know about the Camino too.
Seriously, I wanna know about the Camino too.
Jim B might jump in on this after he get done with his project with running diesel.
