Biodiesel Fuel Filter 6.5TD

I am starting the bio-diesel project and wonder if anyone knows:
a) Does anyone make the stock fuel filter in a synthetic media: if so brand and part number please.
b) Is anyone running Bio-Diesel in their 6.5TD with the stock paper filter with no problems

I am going to the 'blending' single tank method of converting WVO to diesel by heating and blending a mixture of petro diesel and SVO and am warned that the WVO may swell paper element filters.
Any help appreciated.

I hope others in BIO mode advise.

In my opinion the stock filtration of the 6.5 is functional and cleverly designed, but only marginally adequate, in the sense that there is no redundancy, and frequent chance of contamination. Strongly suggest adding a second primary filter once you find out what the BIO drivers use.

I ran B20 in my 92 for the last 20k because the old stock IP & nozzles really wouldn't run any other way. Since they were so old, I wasn't afraid of damaging them, and the stock filter seemed to work just fine until winter arrived at 10,000 feet here in the Rockies, and then a 10% gasoline mixture was mandatory. Since replacing the nozzles and IP, I've been running regular diesel.

I've been using bio and the Baldwin filters from
Kennedy for at least a year now with no problems.
WVO is a totally different animal, though.

I've been running home-brewed biodiesel in all my trucks since September. I stopped running it in the 6.5L Tahoe, however, because the engine noise increased on the bio. I can't really explain why, and I never did run B100, but about at most a 75% bio and the rest regular petro diesel.

When running on the bio, the 6.5L sounded like the timing was increased and made more diesel noise. It didn't sound bad, but I didn't like that it was doing that either. I tried several times, and each time I went back to a tank full of regular diesel, the engine quieted back down.

Neither my 6.2L or my Power Stroke seems to run any different on bio or regular fuel. I have not yet run B100 in either of them yet, still the same 3/4 mixture due to cold weather.

I'm not sure why the 6.5L reacts differently than the other two engines. Maybe something to do with the Stanadyne electronic fuel system?

Anyhow, I have not had any filter problems on any of the vehicles.

Davco makes or used to make the model 234 specifically for WVO and Biodiesel use. I have run up to 30% blended filtered WVO in my 6.5 and my Mercedes without issue in the summertime. RT
