Here is what I did.
Go to www.car-part.com (http://www.car-part.com)
when searching for the airbox just enter
Select Year: 1998
Select Make/Model: Chevy Truck-3500 Series
Select Part: Air Box/Air Cleaner
All Areas/Select an Area: USA (or your state)
Then hit search, then use the "Non-Interchange search using Chevy Truck-3500 Series (1988-2001) and similar models "
Then select the year range, just do the 1998-1999 range. I stay away from 1997 because some salvage yards could look at the sticker on the door and guess the year. For example, they could see late 1996 production, but was really a 1996 model not a 1997, you get the picture.
Then just go through the list and find the yard with the best price and best description. Most of these salvage yards ship the items they list on car-part. I called about 10 yards before I actually found one that had the part on hand and wasn't mising off the shelf, etc.
When you find one that has the box, make sure they have all the pieces. You'll need the airbox, the elbow, the turbo boot that connects the elbow to the turbocharger. And finally you will want to get the resonator, it is the long tube that attaches to the turbo boot. You will also want to make sure that you get the metal bracket that mounts the airbox to the fenderwell. Otherwise these parts will drive up the cost of the assembly by buying parts over the counter at the dealer.
good luck
Have you seen this?

I am thinking about getting the '97-98 version for my Suburban. It appears to be a K&N filter. They claim you do not get increased temps even though you are
sucking hot under hood air- due to the lower restriction and greater air flow.
Has this filter been discussed anywhere else?

There is a current thread on this filter: Click Here (http://forum.thedieselpage.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008119) . I an wary of the claims that it does not increase EGT. Also, I am trying to stay away from any K&N type of filter, and lastly, how do you clean the inside of the filter? Looks to be difficult.

I am trying to stay away from any K&N type of filter, . [/QB]Lots of takes on K&N type filters, I have been using them for as long as I can remember, however, a pre filter eliminates worries most have about the K&N not filtering that well. A few types are available, but I like the cheap one "pantyhose leg" the fine mesh does the trick keeping most dirt off filter.
Flow loss w/prefilter? maybe 10% but w/all the room we have under the hood a double sized (1000cfm+)airfilter would not be far fetched.
