I want to get more power.I am considering rebuilding a 6.5 as per (Power Project). What can I use off my 6.2 if I get a short block 6.5? Will the rebuilt turbo engine fit in my 83 GMC 3500 Vandura(Brougham Motorhome)? What about a different tranny? What do you suggest I do to get this beast moving at better than 28mph up a 6 degree grade? I have about 4k to spend and a lot of time. Am I better served upgrading my 6.2 and will it fit with the upgrades into the Vandura chassy.Any feed back will be appreciated.

Clearance issues will be your biggest issue in stuffing a different set up in. The exterior of basic block and heads are the same for the 6.2 and 6.5. The engines bolt up to the same mounts. The accessories are where you might have issues. The injectors on the 6.2 vans are different than the "normal" 6.2's. The turbo off to the right side of the engine is an issue with pickups, will probable be as bad or worse with a van.

Hummers and late vans have top rear center-mounted turbo - find one and install it............
