GMCTD...

I saw an old post from 2003 where you said that you were able to use an oil temperature sensor to measure the air intake temperature. I purchased a phantom electic water temperature sensor. I saw in the old post that you machined the sensor or thermocouple down to expose the sensor. Can you give me some direction on how to do this. I have access to a lathe and can turn it down. I'm just wanting some information on how to machine this down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

I used Isspro, where I could see the sensor was epoxied into an npt threaded brass casing - the sensor potting was clear plastic-resin.

Chuck it on the flats, center it, carefully remove the flat end of the casing to expose the plastic potting, cut the brass barrel back till the sensor is visible, then shave the excess plastic off the end, leaving not less than 0.001" plastic covering the end of the sensor.

Again, I used Isspro, so proceed with caution if attempting this procedure on any other brand.
