My 6.2 has a touph time starting up first time. It also smoke rally bad ( blue, some black and white) until warmed up then just fine. Starts great then and no smoke. If I leave it turned off for more than 20 minutes back to the smoke. Compression good, not really using oil, mostly leaking. Also smoke coming from dipstick.

If you can get a little more information, we may be able to help.

Can you get a compression check run on a warm engine? Let us know the results.

Also, check your glow plug system; is each plug actually drawing current, about 15 amps each? As an alternate, check each plug for ohms, and note any that are open (infinite ohms) or shorted (0.0 ohms) - they will need to be replaced with AC 60G plugs or Kennedy's quick-heat plugs. If you are not even geting voltage to the plug connectors, there may be a controller or fusible link problem.

In general blue smoke is burning lube oil, white smoke is unburned fuel (no ignition) and black smoke is partly burned fuel (excess fuel, not enough air, clogged air filter).

Also, check your fuel filter, and add a winter anti-gel agent to your fuel tank(s).
