Delvac 1 Question

Dr. Lee,

First, I would like to say thanks for answering the Aeroturbine question on the other forum. I had always wondered about that new technology muffler.

Anyways, my question concerns the Delvac 1 5w-40 and the M1 SUV 5w-40 that is more widely available. I have heard that it is basically rebranded Delvac 1 for different distribution channels. What is your take on this issue?

Hi Mark,

Glad to be of service. When the M1 SUV oil first came out I looked at the specs and the MSDS's for it and Delvac 1, and they appeared to be identical. Delvac 1 has always had a gasoline engine rating, like SJ or SL, so it was a no-brainer to market it as a universal gasoline or diesel SUV and light truck oil. It is particularly good for very cold climates, or very hot climates, or for those who tow heavy loads with turbo-diesels.
