How much oil do I need to do a flush using JK way of changing by running when the trans line are undone?

For the 4L80E, there is about 8 quarts in the pan when you remove, clean and fill it. Then there is another 8 quarts in the converter and lines, for a total of 16 quarts needed.

Either Amsoil or Mobil 1 ATF will be an excellent synthetic tranny fluid for you.

I switched mine to amsoil and I noticed an improvement.

I use Amsoil, for I believe they do the best job in research and testing of their products. They are very serious about lubricants. I began using synthetics in my mud truck when the shop I had go through the transfer case, and a friend of mine who built the turbo 400 for me BOTH mentioned Amsoil when I asked about the best fluid to run. I have always been a fanatic about changing oil, but since researching the Amsoil line, including oil filters, I have reprogrammed my brain to accept the EXTENDED DRAIN INTERVAL, that even GM supports (ie.- the change oil light in new vehicles). I cant make myself go the 25000 miles Amsoil recommends on their engine oil, so I change oil & filter at 12500, which is what the filter is rated for. This is on my daily driver gasser. I have been going about 6000 between changes on the 6.5.
When I changed the trans fluid to Amsoil, I took the return line off the transmission, and ran the truck with the new oil in the pan till I got clean oil out the return line. I kept stopping and refilling the trans so as to not run the pump dry. I used about 12 quarts in the process.

switched to Mobile 1 synATF. I didn't notice any "felt" transmission changes but I did notice about 15deg lower average operating temps. Even when I'm pulling a load My trans never runs hotter than 170. I also have a Mag-hytech BIG trans pan. My welding rig has had synthetic trans fluid in the factory 700r4 since 4000 miles and that rig now has 280,000 MEAN HARD SNOWPLOW 4X4 PIPELINE RUNNING miles on and it's never been apart. Wish I could say it was a Diesel! tongue.gif
