How many times have you heard a F-Series owner lament how he wished Ford would install the 5.9L Cummins in his favorite pickup truck? We met a Ford F-350 owner at a recent auto show who has built what he couldn't get from the factory - a 2001 Ford F-350 SuperDuty, equipped with a 2004 5.9L common-rail Dodge Cummins.
Blue Max
3500 SRW Silverado

Kurt Luoma knows how to build the ultimate pickup truck. Kurt started with a brand new 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Single Rear Wheel crew cab, equipped with the LLY Duramax 6600 and Allison 1000-series 5-speed automatic. His vision of a custom truck and help from the customizers at Blue Ribbon produced what you see here. This is the third Duramax powered pickup Kurt has owned for use in his construction business and/or serve as his personal rig. Blue Max is an apt name for a truck that makes such a bold statement - even when sitting still.

The electrical junction blocks (both under the hood and inside the cab) can be used to provide power for a variety of switched and non-switched accessories, and you can take advantage of these as well for installing a brake controller or providing a dimming lamp source for your accessory gauges. The illustration included here is of a 2001 model-year electrical junction block, which is located near your left foot when seated in the driver's seat.

Completed Exterior

The exterior of the truck was finally completed on the evening of May 13th. That week was rather hectic as we pushed to make the truck ready for a local auto show held in Missoula, Montana on the 15th. We were able to attend, and had a great time, even though there were just 38 miles on the drivetrain upon arriving at the show. The photos shown here were taken that morning. Go here to see the completed exterior truck photos.
