6.2/6.5 Main Cap Stud Girdle Kit

Product Review: Some 6.2/6.5 engine blocks have developed cracks that originate from the outer main bearing bolt holes. The Stud Girdle Kit from Diesel Services Group was designed to help solve this problem. By joining the center three main-webs together, dynamic forces are better contained and the studs eliminate the spreading force put on the block while torquing the main cap fasteners.

The Allison 1000 automatic transmission and NVG-263 electronic selectable transfer case have been installed. The installation process went smoother than I imagined it would. Cutting the transmission tunnel was not necessary to get the Allison into position, but we did need to tweak the forward area of the tunnel a bit to get adequate clearance over one portion of the transmission. This update shows you how it fits.
