First, this forum addition is great.

I am going to put a goose hitch in my bed soon. Anyone have experience with the goose hitches where you pull the lever and can remove the ball? I want to keep the bed versatile for other uses.

I have a short box because I will use the truck for other things and don't want the extra length. I am thinking I can get away with a horse trailer with a tapered nose and have enough clearance to not destroy my back window. Are there other people pulling goosenecks with a short bed?

I personally have a Draw-Tite in my 2500HD short box.

For the type your looking for I would go with a B & W. http://www.turnoverball.com Excellent hitches.

I helped Silver Bullet install a B&W Turnover hitch in his short bed truck a couple of months ago.
It is a two person job, three might be better.
The B&W hitch is very nice and will be the one that I pick when I drill that 4 inch hole in my bed :D
One of the nice things about the B&W is that you can get a fifth wheel hitch for it if you ever need to pull a travel trailer.

Great. I have a contact that can get the B&W for close to wholesale and help with the install. Good to see folks have had good luck.

Anyone ever try the 5th wheel insert? I always like flexability as long as it doesn't compromise the normal function too much.

You haven't had any problems with the short bed and the gooseneck colliding with the back window? What kind of trailer do you pull?

Looking at the instructions for the B&W, it looks like it is mounted in the same location as air bags. Anyone have both mounted? Were there difficulties?

Rockin,
I've pulled these three GN's of mine with my 2500HD short box. No problems. The problem comes when you pull a trailer that has 7.5 feet or more across the very front. Then you might hit.

Rockin,
I run the air lift bags with the B&W hitch. There is no issues between the two.
