Hi guys,
I have a 97 GMC G-3500 6.5L Diesel. I just put 7 glow plugs in. One is siezed. It will not turn and I don't want to break it off.
The van has 181,000 miles on the original plugs. 6 of them were bad so I wanted to replace all of them. The last siezed one is bad or I might just leave it in for now.
The engine was cold when I changed the glow plugs. I may try to remove it with the engine hot. Being a van, I have to be carefull with a hot exhaust when reaching to put my socket over the plug, at least if I do not want to burn my hand!
I don't think that the plugs are swelled inside. It's just rusted or "siezed" Anybody have any sure-fire tricks?

Try soaking with a penetrant for a couple of weeks. Use a six point socket to protect glow plug or, like you stated, leave well enough alone.

I have the same issue with # 8 cyl. Replaced all 7 and have no starting problems. #8 take's a few to fire,so be it ;)
