any opinions on towing with 18 inch eagle alloy wheels rated at 2100 pounds.tires are toyo at 285/65-18 rated at 3000 pounds.the most i tow is a 30 5th wheel weight at no more than 9k.from the other posts this sounds like a combo that is almost as good as the factory stuff and im not towing max gvw anyway.is it safe?my opinion says yes,whats yours.

What is the Alpha rating of your tire?

I have towed 10,000lb trailers with load range "D" 8 ply rated for 3000lbs without incident...an "E" rated 10 ply is preferred however. Watch your tire pressure closely keep it near max and be safe.

What is the curb weight of your truck? 2100 lbs per wheel is pushing it on some of the bigger models. My truck 6740 lbs unloaded. You add about 1000+ lbs pin weight and you are at 7740 lbs with a total wheel rating of 8400. Way too slim of a margin!

With those wheels, the weight of the truck/trailer will come in, just barely.

That is as long as the truck is:
Out of fuel.
Very clean (no dust layer).
All engine/cooling systems are at lowest survivable levels.
Void of passengers.
Driven by the skinniest 16 year old you can find, that hasn't eaten in 2 days.
gutted of its interior. Use one of those inflated chairs for the driver to sit on (inflated with helium).


Seriously, those wheels are way underrated. The tires may be rated high enough (barely), but those wheels are not close. Maybe for a 4-5K pull trailer with a weight distributing hitch. It's just too far out of the safety margin. Please seek another option!

Whoa! I didn't pay attention to the wheel #'s...

Thats unsafe at best with that size trailer.

found out wheels are rated for 3400 pounds eagles web site is incorrect.looked also on back of wheels and thats what they say so im gonna run them.i will send you a pic though make an offer i would like to buy another set anyway.
