Do you know of a company that offers a disk brake conversion for GM's 9-1/2" 14-bolt semi-floating rear axle?
Anyone considered adapting late model rear disk brake components to earlier drum brake axles?
I'm close to getting the rear axle figured out - everything, except the brakes.
Thanks,
MP

I think if you check some of the 4x4 sites you can find kits for the smaller axel. I couldn't find one for the full floater.
The new style axels are different. They use a hat brake. The parking brake is in a drum inside the rotor. Parts arn't transferable.

I tried talking with who ever it is that makes the rear ends and found out about the new style. Best bet might be replacing the whole unit.

ColoradoK5.com is full of Chevy nuts, and many of them have the 9.5" though the 10.5" seems to be most popular upgrade.
If somebody has done it, the site's forums have talked about it.
