JK sent me a factory take-off first-section Duramax exhaust pipe to try for fit. Once removing the cat flange and factory hanger, the pipe fit like a glove. One would think the engineers designed the pipe for a Duramax equipped 90's C/K.
Also, I had trouble ordering an exhaust band-clamp from the local dealer. This is the clamp used to mate the Duramax downpipe to the first section of the exhaust system. The clamp the dealer received looked like a clumsy old-school muffler clamp. So, after measuring the flange on the Duramax downpipe and a factory 6.5 downpipe, I had the dealer order a 6.5 band-clamp. Fits like a glove.
The farther I get in this project the more I'm convinced that the GM/Isuzu engineers used a C/K to design the engine and accessories package. If you remember, the engine and accessories were designed and developed beginning in 1996.
