More Power

The word is that the V-6 Duramax mentioned some time ago is still alive, but is currently on the back burner. When asked about near future diesel applications other than the Duramax 6600, I was told that Isuzu will supply a new engine for use in a range of mid-size GM vehicles.
Navistar is reviving the V-6 Powerstroke, and plans to offer it to other markets. Ford's use of this engine remains in question, due to cost overruns in engine development.
I was surprised to learn that the 4.5L Navistar V-6 now carries aluminum cylinder heads and a common-rail high-pressure fuel injection system. Power was reported as being 230 hp and 440 lb-ft (which is virtually identical to the V-6 Duramax rating I saw).
