View Full Version : GM to Retool Plants
In preparing for the next generation of GM pickups. I just read where Gm will spemd 175 million bucks to retool it,s Fort Wayne plant. 247,000 pickups were built there in 2004. Also GM will spend 150 miilon bucks on it,s Flint plant. No wonder why More Power was told that the plants were in a makeover mode. They said they have to be more flexable in todays market. The pickup is the big three,s stonghold. But the imports are trying to gain on the big 3. I for one hope that the USA citizen won,t let that happen.

Tractor I agree , how ever I feel who ever starts putting Diesels in Light 3/4ton and smaller trucks and SUV will have an advantage. I just hope the "Big Three" are smart enough to do it first.
My money is on Toyota to be the first, look how GM can't get a D-max in a Suburban but yet there are a couple of guys out there that can do it.
Go figure. :( Merle

I live 20 mile from the Fort Wayne plant hear in IN. Not only retooling but the plant is getting bigger and this place is close to a mile long.
