manual 6.5 in 94?

I am looking to put a 6.5 in my 88 1-ton. I was told that I had to find a 93 engine. I checked in with the local wrecking yard (for the 20th time) and they had one with the manual pump but told me it was a 94. Could the thing be a 931/2? Thanks for any info!

It would all depend on the original vehicle the engine was taken from. Most commercial vehicles like vans, chassis/cabs, delivery vehicles, and military retained the mechanical systems for several years after the electronics started in the pickups/suv's.

I don't know how to redirect your question - but you might try posing it in the 6.5 TD part of the forum, instead of here. You'd probably get more folks who both know the engine, and how to tell what is what, AND what to look for in sticking it into an older truck.
