DSG 6.5TD Engine Oil Cooling Kit (http://www.thedieselpage.com/reviews/dsgoilcooler.htm)

Anyone who has owned a 6.5 for any length of time has had to deal with leaking engine oil cooling lines. Because of age-hardening and countless temperature cycles, all factory oil cooling lines eventually begin leaking at the hose joints. The braided stainless-steel flexible lines and leak-proof hydraulic fittings included in the DSG kit should offer a permanent solution to this age-old problem, and the new high-efficiency engine oil cooler should help to reduce oil and engine temperatures.

I do not see it on Kenedy's website nor DSG's. I have been looking ever since you mentioned it in anither post, but it has never shown up. Is it available now? What is the cost?

I have a leaking oil line and want to replace it before the big move, hence my interest.

We have had our own lines for a couple of months now. We have just gotten in custom made adapters for the 95 and ealier models so they fit the old cooler just like the OEM. Hey Greg,

I've got your original type oil cooler lines on my 95 sub. The engine is coming out and I want to check on "upgrading" my lines to the steel braded version you sell now. Basically, is there any price difference if I was to upgrade? I was thinking of upgrading since I will be there. The lines have worked well (except for the brass washer, it's gone with the wind now) so i was thinking, since I am there. Thanks!

Yes, DSG's oil cooling line kit has been available since sometime in January. JK is supposed to be their US dealer. Last I heard JK had or was getting some of these kits for his stock.

PS. I should add that it's been more than a month and 2,000 miles since the installation. No drips, no leaks, no errors....

I talked to Kennedy and he sent me a DSG oil cooler two weeks ago. I was installing a fresh GEP 6.5 (also from Kennedy) and decided to be proactive about preventing a third cracked block. I also got the DSG stud girdle.

Both of those items were easy installs while the engine was on the stand. I'm not sure I'd want to tackle the oil cooler install while the engine was in the truck. The fittings are tucked up in there pretty high!

Go to any store that can make or repair hydraulic hoses, they can make you new lines with compression fitting that will do the job. Make sure that you get dual braid hydraulic line. Single braid will probably work since the oil pressure is low, but dual braid is the way to go.

I need new lines and I am about to order some, but if I can get a kit that is lines *and* a bigger cooler I am game. I too have searched JK's and DSG's sites with no luck. Anyone know part number and price?

I ordered a set with the blue lines and, due to other problems, was glad their length was able to be shortened. I have no leaks and would not want to do this with everything in the engine bay.

So this is a KIT ONLY, I am wondering if they would sell the larger cooler and brackets to someone wanting to adapt. The cooler looks to have the same fittings on the ends, that would accept a factory like hose.

If one is wanting a larger cooler only, one option would be to buy one from a place that carries tru-cool (long mfg.) coolers, who I think makes our stock oil cooler. I got a larger cooler to use for my dad's auto trans. One place that carries them:

It did require some additional bracket fabrication but really helps with tranny temps.
