Someone stole my tires!!

Changing my oil tonight (and installing Fumoto), hitting zerks, looking around underneath, checking fluids etc.. and I notice someone stole my tires... well they must have. Pieces of crap on there now are DOWN TO WEAR BARS. My truck only has 8,600 mile on it. I swear I'm not burning the tires off it.....honest Dad. :D
Seriously, how can they be gone already. Don't think I've spun on dry pavement more than 1/2 a dozen times, and they were just little chirps.
If it spins it's time to shift up anyway. Anyone else have this problem? Oh BTW, 60 psi, very little towing :confused: :confused: :confused:

Wow! I sold my B-stones with 5,000 mi on 'em as near new for $250/set... and I thought I was rough... ;)

32,000 on my stock F-stones and they are getting close to the wear bar. Rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. New set coming in a couple months.
I would check the alignment and ease off the long thin black pedal a little.

SoCal, No rotating yet, I thought they were still new!
Fronts are much better.
I'd say rears are 50%, fronts 90%.
I know, looks like it's my fault. I'm serious though, I dont paint the road 2 stripes at a time like you southwest fellas :D
I'm actually trying to get good mileage.

If I hadn't of had a split in the sidewall on my Firestones they would have lasted 30k. I now have Michelins and they aren't holding up that well, but I might still get 30k out of them. Maybe I'm too quick with the clutch or something... smile.gif

mackey_62, You may be spinning the tires more than you think. I can rarely take off at a red light without spinning the tires!!! I'm not talking about getting on the go pedal, but hard enough to merge in traffic. It is really bad if the road is wet from sprinklers and the such. This puppy has a lot of power and that rear end will break loose in a heart beat! I currently have about 22,000 miles on a set of Dunlop Radial ATs and the tires still look new!

30k? Geesh, you need to fine tune something... The 62k mentioned above are hard road miles. I'm plenty happy. Another new set of the same, on the way.

19,000+ on original Goodyear Wrangler 215-85-16's air pressure psi set to 70 lbs front and 65 on rear as posted on the door ... 7 tire rotation every 5,000 miles .... appear to be approximately 1/3 worn :cool:

My brother has a 98 k3500 with the same f-stones on my d-max. He has 60,000+ on his. He does baby it, but it has a 454. The diesels must be spinning them and we dont know it?

mackey_62, what kind of tires are they? I have three D/A's that I regularly drive. All three have the Firestone tires on them that I consider pretty bad. The highest mileage one has 22,000 miles and the tires still have 50% or so left. Rotated every 5K.

If you are REALLY not burning the rubber off then you may consider that your rear axle may be out of alignment. If the tires are that bad in 8600 miles it should be an obvious mis-alignment. Have someone drive your truck at highway speeds and follow them in another car. Make sure the truck is tracking correctly. That's a very crude way to check alignment, but if yours is so severe that it's eating tires that fast you should be able to see it crabbing down the highway.
