My father began shopping for a D/A 2500HD after he heard about the employee pricing. We went to several different lots and the only diesels left were the top of the line, SLT/LT Crew Cab, trucks that he didn't want. I also saw about the new 6-speed Allison transmission for '06, so he decided to wait. The GMC dealer we went to said they already had the '06 trucks ordered and that they would begin arriving in July (which is why they had no 2005s left). The Chevy dealer said they haven't yet started ordering them, but may this week and begin delivering them in August. Which is correct? Or, for some strange reason, are the Chevy and GMC dealerships getting their 2006s at different times? Thanks.

Traditionally, the earliest GM dealers could get the next year's models has been late August or sometime in September. GM will start building them in late July, but it takes a while to get through the pipeline.

MP Thanks. That's probably what the GMC dealer meant, I just misunderstood.

One of my local dealers here in Michigan has two 1/2 ton 2006 Chevy's on the lot. I think the prices posted in the window indicate no employee price for everyone. The changes I noticed were the front end has the 2005 HD front clip and the bumper cover was painted instead of being black plastic like the 2005.

I spotted a 2006 at my local dealer today. It was a 1500 and it has the hood of a 2005 2500HD. The strip above the chrome bumper was not as tall as a 2500HD, and it had no wheel flares. The window sticker was laying inside and had no options or prices listed, it just said information was not available. I snapped a couple of pictures in case someone's interested...

I have a 2006 2500 HD on order. I was told the build date will be July 25th and the truck should be at the dealer Aug 1st.. looking forward to getting it..

The new redesigned Suburban/Yukon will be unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January, with the redesigned 2007 trucks appearing some months later. My guess will be the typical model year availability beginning in August/September of next year. smile.gif

I ordered about the 1st of july, when the Employee discount was announced. I was going to get a 2005 but they could not locate one with the options I wanted. They said they would put thru a order for a 2006.

JimEd - You mean they gave you employee pricing on a '06? I thought that was just on '05's to clean out their stock.
