Transynd Color

At 12,000 miles, I switched over to Transynd and the deep pan. Now, at 20,000 miles, as I was changing the Allison spin on filter, the Transynd that came down with the filter was orange. I thought I was seeing things and compared it to some fresh fluid still in the bottle (which was nice and red) and the fluid that came out of the transmission was definitely orange. When I changed out the Dexron III, I did a feed and bleed, 6 gallons of Transynd, so I'm pretty sure I got most of the Dexron out but maybe not. Does Transynd and Dexron when mixed become orange in color or am I looking at the beginning of an internal problem?

Don't sweat it...It was an expensive lesson for me..I to discovered just that and immediately drained and refilled with transynd.....Then to find out there is no SPEC for color variation in transynd....Could be RED,Orange,brownish... or any shade in between,as long as it doesn't smell burnt.....Green if it gets HOT enough, but we should never see that....Black,sell,quickly.....LOL

I have PICS in my More DA folder..No Mobil 1 PICS ...

I then learned Transynd is not a true synthetic...... :mad: So now I run Mobil 1, cherry red it is !!!!!!!

Well, I could be a victim of word of mouth, but I was informed it was a "blend" synthetic......Therefore not making it a True or "full" synthetic......Maybe I used wrong choice of words....The two onboard lube specialist have gone over this topic,extensively.....I have nothing in print ,but what a search here would offer....The color thing, you'll just have to take my word for it....


If I'm wrong let me know.....I don't like to pass on false info.....

If TranSynd is not a true Synthetic then it's the BEST "mineral" oil on the market, the only oil that meets Allison Transmissions spec TES295 for Extended Oil drain intervals..

If one of the Lube Specialist on this site would like to provide me with literature that Transynd is not a Synthetic oil that would be great... Allison Transmission has been lying to all the customers in that case and needs to be addressed...

No Allison has not been lying. The court's say they can call it a synthetic. It is a group 3 base stock which means it is a highly refined mineral oil. The process is called hydro cracking. I think it was Mobile that sued Castrol a few years back over this whole thing. Anyway Castrol own the case so now they can call it a synthetic. Yes it is better than regular mineral oils but NOT better than a true synthetic like Mobile, Amsoil etc. Yes the Transynd is the only approved oil for the Allison exsteaded drain warranty. But then just think about it if they are the only ones then Allison will sell more transynd. Several others meet the TE295 spec but none to date have been put on the list. Another thing to remember is that the exstended drain warranty does not affect the pickups, only motorhomes and and heavier trucks that use the Allison.

Do you have any Documentation that states Transynd is not a Synthetic Fluid and is made with a Mineral Oil?

Mike G, a while back Big Al said the first change to Transynd always has a little DEX left in it no matter how well you flush it. The mix of Transynd and DEX leaves a babysh*T color (his definition not mine) so orange would be close if your baby ate a lot of carrots lately LOL.

I think it is normal and the second change with Transynd should get rid of most of it. I changed over to Transynd and deep pan at about 10K and I am just coming up on 25K and will change the Transynd again and next time at 50K and then never again for 100K per Allison extended change schedule.

So don't sweat it until it smells burnt!

Wanted to thank you for your pictorial and report on Ultra Wheels. I wanted Alcoa classics but it looks like it aint gonna happen, so I went with the Ultra model 02 (same as yours) and they look great! Appreciate it. I'll get some pics posted if it ever quits raining here in N. Calif.

Just stopped by the local Allison dealer today, and the trans person said that the 1000 trans are now delivered w/ Transynd fluid for 03'. Purchased four gallons for about $100.00 along w/two filters. They also gave me little allison tags to put on the dip stick for when the next service is due. Their service person said it is the best fluid to use?? lots of improved fluid characteristics to make the transmission last longer?? including lower operating temp under load.

Just changed my 02 to TranSynd. Can feel a noticable improvment in performance and cooler operating temps.

My tranny oil after 4 months of mixing with the old stuff, is the same colour that is in the Transynd bottle brillient deep red, the only time I have ever seen oil change colour to baby $$it is from condensation mixing in oil and foaming (probably only happens north of the 49th parallel) I'd say something is rotten in denmark.
