Steering stabilizer

With all the talk about the less than desirable factory shocks I thought I would ask...has anyone replaced their steering stabilizer?

Come on MAC...you can be the guinea pig!!! :D 4-Wheel Parts has Ranchos for most applications for $45 to $120.

What is the life expectancy for these things?

It took a little research, but I found Rancho part numbers...

Stabilizer RS-5407
Bracket RS-5548

Boys and Girls,
The Rancho Steering stabilizer is on on...with a few minor problems. Projects like this are much easier with the proper tools...namely a tie rod end separator (the fork looking tool). I started off with a ball joint separator thinking the fork was the same size...WRONG! It was too wide. After getting the correct tool from Autozone, it took 3 hits to pop off the old one! Mounting the new one was a little tricky...I just had to get everything on there before tightening anything as the angles are not quite the same using the bracket.

Here is the new one with the mounting bracket so I never have to use the forkin' tool again to replace this thing! :D I left the cover off so you can see the bracket. It is pretty on there...too bad it's hidden!

After driving it I am happy with the improvement although I was hoping it would completely solve my problem. BUT...I also was not able to make over to the smooth black top and kick it up to 80+ mph...I'll post back on Sunday if I notice any difference than this evening. It might be time to get the high dollar balance job with the Hunter superduper tire balancer at Discount Tire.

Total cost was around $62 (bracket $20, stabilizer $42).
