signs of factory shocks going bad?

i hear that the factory shocks are really no good . my truck is a 04 and has 4,000 miles on it . i am hearing a noise when i brake slowly and if i keep pumping the brakes moving very slow i hear a crunching sound , any thoughts ? i thought maybe the shocks were compressing to much or something causing this noise ?

or any input in general on these factory shocks would be great , thanks

How to tell when the factory shocks are bad? Very easy - the minute you drive your truck off the dealer lot the factory shocks are bad. They are cheap, weak, under-rated and worthless. Put on a set of Bilsteins and you won't believe the improvment in ride and handling.
