View Full Version : Driveline clunk
Still working on my (really aggravating) driveline clunk on 2001HD with 66,000 miles. I had the dealer where I bought truck take driveline off and lube...no help. I went back and was told that I could install nickel plated slip yoke for $365. I went to another dealer and they said that fix was not for DMAX HD's. Does anyone know for sure? I tried to look up any GM bulletins, but no luck.thanks
yes, the nickel slipyoke is only for 1500's
Is it clunking when you are coming to a stop? Using the $30 a pint blue super grease from GM takes care of the clunk for a while. When it starts doing it again I know it's time to lube it again.

Hi Guys !
For the 2nd time in 30,000 miles I developed the driveline clunk, the dealer had previously greased the yoke at about 15,000 miles, this time they replaced the yoke. I drove out of the dealership with the same problem...The dealer then regreased the yoke with marine teflon grease(Mercury) now it is smooth and quiet. There is no fix for the yoke at this point and he believes I will have to addresss the problem again...Ummm, is this any way to run a company ?
