I have an 05 with cat on it. why can't I hollow out the cat to get readn of the future clog????? :confused:

The cat is a pretty spendy item. If I were to remove one (for off-road use smile.gif ), I'd replace it with a straight piece of pipe, and keep the cat in reserve.
It is required by law, but not well enforced. :D

I'm sure glad that I put my cat away in the shed. I recently had the smog check done and I had completely forgotten that I took the cat off when I got the truck. The VIN nbr indicates the equipment that should be on the truck and of course they went looking. They failed the check. I put it back on and went back so they could sign it off. Keep it in reserve.

jd i have a 05 also, i took the cat off when i put the rbp exhaust. the comp would trip lots of codes. due to the variable pitch on the new turbos it would actually breath to much when cold. ;)
Have an '05.
No cat.
