Air Conditioner Issue

First summer of owning the truck. Been using the A/C regularly for a couple weeks now. The last few days, I have noticed that the recirculation won't engage until the truck has been running for a while. Light comes on, A/C works, but it won't start the recirc function when you push the button. My 1/2 ton didn't do this, so I don't think its normal. Any ideas?

None of my GM trucks that have had the recirc function would allow it to work (recirc) if the defrost or defrost/foot modes were selected on the air flow knob.

I just have it set to blow out the main vents. It worked normally today at lunch. The light comes on on the recirc button, but maybe its shorting out at the actual control module

I can push my recirc button as soon as I start the truck. What I do not like is the air conditioner is very poor if not in recirc and not great when it is in recirc. So, I have to push the button every time I start the truck in the summer. Is the air any better in the 05 than in the 03?
