Hi,

my buddy and I were just comparing the driveshafts in our dmaxes. both are 2002, 2500HD, D/A, SB. His is a LT EC, mine is LS CC. his driveline (1 piece) measures 11.25 inches around, whereas mine (1 piece also) measures 16.25 inches around. my driveline is about twice as big as his where is meets the u-joint in the rear. i know the CC is 8 inches longer than the EC. is that why i have such a larger driveline? i must admit i was quite surprised, and he was sitting there looking at me saying, "What gives? Why is your driveline so much bigger than mine?"

anybody know?

thanks as always...

was his a steel driveshaft? a steel drive shaft is usually a little smaller in in size and thickness. you could make an alloy shaft that is the same size, but i think it would have to be a lot thicker than the steel counterpart. if you were to weigh them both, i think your alloy shaft will be a bit lighter.. [take a look at the phord 5.0 boys swaping out steel for alloy shafts to reduse rotational mass]
