Anybody else heard this? Just talked to my old neighbor (he works at a GM dealership in Oregon now) and he said this is what they were told by GM.

I too would like to see if there is any validity in that claim. Sounds like to me they would be shooting themselves in the foot. Not all diesel owners want an auto.

Do both the 6sp and Allison trucks some off the same line? Maybe they want to get all the 6sp's out of the way and just do Allisons. Do they have to change the assy. line to do each tranny? If so maybe it's a PITA and they are trying to be more efficent.

Hey 350....Have you looked into an F-1 motor, lately? Ceramic and plastic! Those pupies turn 18,000 RPM and pump out around 1,800 HP! How is that for "plastic"?

They said the same thing during the first year of production.

It may just be a temp restraint or just BS.

I just hope that means they pick up all open order for 6 spds (mine included) and build them before they shut them off.

I think GM is probably encountering a problem with something. When we first ordered our 95 6.5 it took well over a year to recieve it. 6 months in on our wait they said it cannot be ordered with a manual tranny because of a huge problem they were experiencing with pressure plates. But then again knowing how greedy the General is 2200.00 dollars time say a few hundred thousand trucks equals well 2200.ooX 300,000=Six hundred and sixty more million dollars in there wallets.....And I bet that just covers the yearly raise for the CEO.

This may be more than a rumor...

I posted in the allocations section concerning my order that I just placed at my dealer. I placed the order 10/14 for a GMC 2500HD CC 4x4 Dmax with the ZF tranny. I already have a TPW of 10/28. The salesman said something about not being able to order the ZF past the end of the month. The sales manager, in a separate conversation, said the same thing.

If anyone is wanting the ZF they should see their dealer now!!!

I still wonder if this is a permanent situation. Could GM be dumping the ZF for another model, such as a New Venture box????
