Hello all,
Was under my 93 C2500 this afternoon greasing the chassis and I discovered the rubber ring on the harmonic balancer/dampner is squeezing out along about 1/3rd of the circumference. Dead giveaway its shot and needs to be replaced. The question is can I continue to use the truck like this? I spray painted a line on in so I can tell if the inner and outer sections are in fact rotating independently. If they are I am pretty sure that I shouldn't use the truck at all. However if they are not yet completely separated can I continue limited use until the new part arrives? Planning on calling Avant Salvage tomorrow. Of course this is the worst possible time for the truck to be down. Several large remodeling contracts are on the line and I don't have another truck to use. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, RT
