The allison has just had some more plating added to its armor thanks to Joe Webb at Suncoast. According to Joe these changes should eliminate the c1 problem experienced in some high horsepower and torque applications(mac are you listening) :D

Here are the specs and photos of their new
C-1 clutch 3 pc billet piston and single side clutch pack, and the C-2 single side clutch pack.
Specs:
C-1 OEM, 6 double side frictions @ 8.60"sg =12x8.60=103.2"sg friction area.
C-1 SUN COAST/ALTO 16 single side friction @ 11.03"sg=176.48 friction area
C-1 apply piston: OEM 18"sg
SUN COAST 27" sg
256% increase in capacity

C-2 OEM 6 double side friction @ 12.26=
12x12.26=147.12"sg clutch area
C-2 SUN COAST/ALTO
16 single side @ 15.39"sg =246.24"sg
60% increase

So do any mods need to be done to the case or can all these goodies be installed durring a TC/VB/clutch swap? Or is this a suncoast only mod?

Any idea on price of all the clutches with the added c1 stuff if it can be done by a competent mechanic and not by suncoast?

Philip,

Both ATS and Suncoast have their products in a semi DIY kit form. That said, I still feel that in many cases, it best to do an exchange unit or drive in service so that they (mfr's) are the last ones in there.

Done this way, there will never be extra parts left over or any question as to a proper install.

I would say this would be in-house......or exchange....

So j.k does this mean you might be getting into transmission overhaul business. Wife and i are going to travel to your area next march and i will stop to pick up one of your exhaust systems ,if your getting into trans i might like to do that to.

No WAY! I don't even have time to work on my own stuff these days! I sneak in an exhaust system now and then, but a transmission would have to be a weekend job! Wouldn't you rather do some dyno testing??? :D

My Suncoast trans has been here (unused) in the crate for a few months now, and now it is headed back to Joe for updating. I'll likely do the same with my ATS next.

In talking to Joe, he is not intending to send out a kit form for this big power setup, and I whole heartedly agree. It takes a pretty sharp eye to fit things up, AND it is also particularly handy to have a Tech 2 avail to do the Fast Learn. Truth is, I called Joe just AFTER making my previous post...

not counting the c1's in the stock tranny, just one set before clint gave me the single sided ones

Let's not be too hasty in saying there won't be a kit shipped........there are some people here that have the abilities to get things done........

If I have to redeem the Suncoast name by being the first to install this "big power setup"......rest assured.....it will work perfectly in my truck.

.........and this will be the only time it will NEED to get done.
