View Full Version : tires
Thinking on getting the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo in a 245/75/16 E size.Wondering if anyone has put a fair amount of miles on these tires and their opinion as to road noise, traction, tread life, and if they affected fuel economy. The stock Bridgestone 265 tires that are on it are wearing very good but as those who have them know traction is somewhat limited in wet or snow.

I'm at the point of needing tires too. Have run the LTX M/S and have generally been satisfied. Have got about 55000 on them now, rears are gone. Thinkg of the Revo's beacuse of what I've read, and it does appear they are a bit more agressive thread than the LTX, that being the one drawback I have on the LTX.
Are you going from the 265 size back to 245? If so why?
The size of the tires (Bridgestone R265)is 245/75/16 which came stock with truck. The R265 is the tire designation which is more of a highway rib type tire than the M+S which stamped on the tire. Some of the more than 500+ REVIEWS that I read on the Revo suggested a significant decrease in fuel mileage and tread life.A better comparison for me would be someone who switched from the 245/75/16 R265 Bridgestone to the Revo in a 245/75/16.Thought about going to a 265/75/16 but my experiance with tires the narrower the better the digging down in and getting some traction except in sand. Most of my mileage is on pavement but I also drive and park on roads and sites that are under construction.Never had a 4-wheel drive truck till 1998 and only managed to get stuck a couple of times but them were half tons. This three-quarter ton would be worthless to me if only 2wd.Pushing that 4wd button a lot lately but never stuck.

michelin LTX at's have a more agresive tread , there still quiet and handle good in all conditions! I have had these tires on my last 3 truck ! To dated the highest mileage I have put on a set is 107,000 miles! they still had good tread depth, I trade the truck in( they still had 5k left at that time!!!!!! biggest problem is you cant get them in a E rated tire bigger then 245-75-16!!! they dont make a 265 in this tread :(
I had 265/75 R16E's REVO's...they were GREAT in all respects except wear...the compound apprears to be soft (that's probably how they get such good traction etc). Mine got pretty hard use pulling a 13K 5th wheel constentily but they were showing a lot of wear by 15k...my guess was i'd get around 30K from them. I'd probably buy them again for the traction and maybe 30K is resonable for my use. Unfortunately, the truck was totalled recently.

That's not what I wanted to hear. Tirerack rates the Revo's quite a bit better than the LTX M/S, I think in every catagory. But I'm going to get 55-60,000 out of the LTX. I had hopes the Revo's would work since the LTX are not good in any mud etc, and the Revo's look like they have a more agressive thread.
Just mounted new REVO 265-75R-16 E rates on factory aluminium rims off a 2003 GMC 2500HD for my 98, along with a set of new bilsteins...all I can say is WOW! I have never been a big fan of any firestone products or their affiliates, but so far I am impressed, Very quiet tires, excellent traction in wet conditions. Almost cant wait till winter to try them in the snow. What led me to buy these tires? probably the the reviews on tirerack.com, and the rebate offerd at the time of purchase + 50,000 mile warranty...would I recommend them? so far a definete Yes
What are folks paying for 265/75/R16 'D' Revo's? I am dangerously close to buying a set as well.
I just got a written quote for a set of 4 265/75/R16 'E' Revo's. $535 includes mounting and balancing, plus sales tax. This sounds pretty good. Anyone find a better price?
Thats a good price Dawg, I would jump at that! any additional hazzard protection with that price?.... Simzie

I have 245 75 16E revo's on my truck and they perform pretty well in all conditions. Tread life seems to be pretty short when on these trucks though. With 30k miles they are getting near the end. No way will they go 50k. I don't pull or tow much either.
Next set of tires probably won't be revo's but will be 265's.

30M miles don't cut it for me, guess I'll stick to the LTX MS.
Dawg - I got a quote for the same tires at $801. You had better jump on that deal.
I guess I better jump on that price! The manager at the Firestone store told me they have a 50,000 mile warranty. In his experience he said they will go over 50,000 miles as long as you rotate them and keep them inflated properly. Thanks for the info.

I've seen it posted that mileage is not as good with the Revo's. This weekend was talking personally to the driver of a F250 with them. He said he likes the tire's look and performance, but he is already concerned with mileage. He says he will not get 50M out of them.
I wonder how the warranty procedure will work if you don't get the 50,000 miles? I will look into it. I will be getting a set in the next couple weeks. I confirmed the price and am ready to go.

Saw you found them for $535. Where? Best I have found is $671 at Costco in Boise. Maybe I should stop there when I drive through in July.
I just stopped in and started talking with the manager at my local Firestone. I haven't purchased a Firestone product in over 20 years because of a bad experience. I let him know of my concerns with Firestone and said that I wouldn't mind purchasing a set of Revo's but I was still skeptical of the Firestone Corp in general and their customer service. He said he would make me a good deal to get me as a customer. I told him if the price was right and the customer service was good, I would give them a try. He told me he would make it worth my while. I will make an appointment to get them mounted in the near future.

have the duelers but not the revos, and 30,000 miles the need to be replaced
I had the 265/75/R16 'E' Revos installed last weekend. Obviously not many miles yet, but I can really notice the improvement in ride quality and noise. I am already extremely happy and will be even happier if they go to the rated 50,000 miles.
UPDATE: 7/1
Outstanding tire!! :D
