I was just at the local tire store getting a price on some new wheels and tires, and the kid behind the counter was nice enough to include a $115 charge for a set of chrome and locking lugnuts. I said,"No thanks, the lugnuts are going behind the cap so I will just use the stock ones." So, then he tells me the stock ones have a different taper and won't fit right so I will atleast need $32 for plain ones.

Is this right, do the stock alloy wheels have a different shape and take a different shapped lug than say the Centerline wheels?

My OEM lugs fit the Centerlines I have (Comet III's) perfectly. I checked them before I installed. Been running them for over 40K now with no problems. Centerline or GM may have changed something since I did my switch, but I doubt it.

John John, some do, some dont. Depends on the wheel style.

For $32.00 you now have assurance that they will be correct or THEY will be responsable for any problems.

Which model wheel? Most if not all of the Centerline wheels for our trucks take a 60 degree conical nut, which just so happens to be what GM has on there already.

This info was taken off of Centerline's website. Thes are the specs for the Bullet wheels. It appears as though you are correct in assuming this kid was feeding you a line. The stock lug nuts will work fine. Good luck.
