View Full Version : Running Wires From Engine To Passenger Compart.
Am in the process of running some wires for my differential thermostat and through the engine compartment into the cab. Anyone have an easy/safe route. Got to looking and am uncertain as the how to proceed. Don't want to mess something up. Any thought are appreciated.
There's a grommetted pass-thru on the firewall under the driver's side dash. You can use that.

You can pierce the gromet a little to make the job a bit easier....careful though there is a lot going through there. I have about maxed the gromet with all I have going through it. A little silicone afterwards won't hurt.

I used the same grommet for my foglight wires.
Use a 7/8" hole saw or drill to make a hole in the firewall as shown in the link below. This is the ideal location for running wires into the cab.
Auto body supply stores carry plastic filler plugs to fit this opening.

I used the SAME LOCATION (http://community.webshots.com/photo/59795693/59798324nRNvFs) ;) as posted by tbrowne. IIRC, I used a 3/4" hole saw and with all the mods - I should have gone larger....
Thanks to all. I did it, and it worked well. I really appreciate the folks like you on this forum. The information is outstanding. Thanks again.

Borrow a conduit punch from any electrician and you can enlarge the 3/4" hole easily.
