View Full Version : 2WD 265 front 285 rear?

I was just wondering if anyone with a 2WD truck besides me has considered or even done it, put 265's on the front and 285's on the back?

Is this just a concept, or are you actually thinking about doing this? Personally, I can't think of any reason someone would want to do this in the first place.

Functionally yes but will it upset your ABS readings? You'd think it would freak them out.

It would give me more traction in the back, which is the only place I have any anyway and keep me from having any rubbing issues in the front.

I notice you have green keys and 2" blocks on your truck. Is that the best way to solve rubbing issues on the front with 285's?

That's a good question about the ABS, I don't know if it compares all four tires or side to side.

abs sensor in each front wheel and vss is also abs sensor for rear wheels... not a good idea to mix sizes

The keys did the job but the ride got bouncy. My shock spacers work for now. When the shocks go I'll put a shock long enough on. You may be able to get by cranking what you have. I went straight to 315's so I can't say for sure.

Being a 2WD you have more options. Someone out there has different spindles on his 2WD. I'd look into that since you have less parts to mess with. It will be easier on the front end and keep the ride smooth.

Thanks for all the input, the different size tire idea is totally dead.

BFG makes a 275 70 16 which is only .7" taller than the stock 245. I think that mounted on some Centerline 16 x 8's is the way I'm going.

It Should have negligible effect on the speedo or trans shiftpoints.
