My CC D/A has just about 10,000 miles on it now and there has been a rattle since about 3,000. It is somewhere behind the driver's side back seat and it is driving me crazy. It's not the jack or anything under the seat loose. Can some one help??
Thanks
Dan

Well, it might not "help" you but mine does that from time to time too. I'll be d@mned if I can find it though. If you stumble across something let me know.

There is a cover for a kids carseat teather back there and that flip up shelf. Have you checked those? I have the cover off because I have a carseat there and have never had a problem. Good luck.

Yep, I pulled those off and it didn't make any difference. It seems like it is coming from lower down than that. Frustrating.

TexasMax - I have one in that area or around the area where the door closes (Ext. Cab)on the driver's side. I called the dealer about getting it done under warranty and they will if it is within 1 year and 12,000 miles. Natually I have 19k but only 8 months and they would not cover it. So, take it in now if you want them to take a look. I can't afford their flat rate for a hit or miss deal with them so it'll have to wait. I guess there is some advantage to being hard of hearing after all. tongue.gif

I've got a rattle-type noise at the headliner on the driver's side above the rear door. I can put my hand back on the headliner where it starts to roll upward and the rattle goes away. It does it the worst when hitting the lane dividers. I took it in and the dumb dealer tried to adjust the door. I probably wouldn't notice it if it weren't so close to my left ear.

I have an S10 extended cab with a rattle like yours. After 3 trips to the dealer to fix the rattle and having had the door adjusted each time a very smart tech finally fixed it. I didn't believe them when they told me and figured it was going to rattle again but 6 months and about 15k later still quiet as a mouse.
He greased the hinges of the door with white lithium grease! Solved the problem. Might not work for you but sure is worth a try.

I had that problem, check to see if your seatbelt has come out of the travel clip that is located half way down the rear pillar between the seat and the door. Clipped mine in, rattle went away smile.gif

Another vote for the seatbelt. Also check the door pockets for anything that can move...
Then there is the lower and upper door latch. The rear doors have a two stage latch similar to the front doors. If they are not latched properly it *will* rattle down low. I adjusted mine myself. The door striker was loose from the factory and the two bolts needed tightening.

Sounds like the same rattle that drove me crazy. I have an Ext. cab and had a rattle on the driver’s side that sounded like it was coming from the rear door. I checked all of the adjustments and finely pulled the rear door panel to check for something loose inside of the door, to no avail. What it did find was that if I lubed all of the door seal with a light coating of silicone paste the rattle was gone. Good Luck.

My kids love to play around in the truck while it's parked in the garage. Especially because it has a DVD entertainment center. My son loves to find places for things and put the remote control for the DVD in the cavity that collects the flow thru air from underneath the seats. The one on the drivers side is quite large and you need very small hands to get all the way inside of it. Perhaps there is something in one of these plastic cavities.

I took my truck to the dealer for a number of squeks and rattles,The most annoying was sometimes when I was slowing down and on the left rear of the cab.I thought it was the vent on the rear of the cab,the dealer found that the bed bolts were loose and the bed was moving around and making squecking noise. They tightened it and that one went away, then they tore apart the dash to put in the new Cd player and now the dash buzzes and rattles but that's another issue.
I had a rattle behind my rear seats in my 2002 CC and it turned out to be the plastic trim that goes across the back of the rear seats just under the rear window. I put a couple pieces of 1"x1" foam between the trim and the rear of the cab. Rattle gone.

Here are a couple of tricks I found elsewhere:
Clean all the rubber door moldings off real good with a wet rag, then use a different rag to dry them. Take another rag and put some silicone grease on it -- dielectric works good. Using a back-and-forth motion apply the grease over the entire contact surface of the molding. Don't use too much, but use enough to be certain you cover everything well. Work in small areas each time, no more then about 1-2 feet. Let it sit for at least 1/2 an hour to soak in then take a fresh, dry rag and using the same back-and-forth motion wipe off any excess.
Here is another:
The squeeking noise was comimg from the top clip inside the panel that covers the (flooting post) part of the rear door. If you were to look inside the panel from the top of the door, you will see the little steel clip.
One more:
You may also check to see if the noise comes from the rear door. Adjust if needed.
