I noticed white powder on garage floor under my 2001 D/A. Popped the hood and noticed the driver's side battery was leaking.

Took it to the dealer for repair. Hate AC Delco batteries but figured since I have two months of warranty left, may as well get a free battery and tray if corroded.

New battery and tray replaced under warranty.

Here's the kicker. Popped the hood at home to see if they actually replaced the tray, they did, but THE FREAKING PASSENGER SIDE BATTERY NEG TERMINAL WAS NOT ATTACHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta love the dealer. I almost look forward to the warranty expiring.

Wonder if you get your truck "serviced" at the same place I get mine done, because that sounds like something those lunkheads would have done to me.

Jim,

I do all my own servicing because I don't trust the dealer to do it. I will only take it to the dealer for warranty work.

I would have thought sites such as this and the internet would have forced most dealers to pick it up a notch because owners are more informed. Apparently not.

Too bad techs such as dmaxallitech are not the norm.

The ole Dmax started starting kinda slow. Checked the batteries by disconnecting the negative cable one at a time and hitting the starter. Drivers side battery totally dead. Noticed fluid around the positive cable. When I touched it, it fell off. the stud that goes into the battery was completely corroded in two. Took the battery out and acid had leaked all over the tray and below. Cleaned it up and installed two new Optima red tops. This is the fourth piece of c*** Delco that has leaked. Previous leaking batteries were in new '91 K1500, '94 Z28 and '99 Eldorado. I think if I buy a new GM I will change the battery after 1 year and hope that wasn't too long.

I would suggest if anyone has 2 year old Delco batteries, remove them at your first chance.

I noticed that my secondary battery started leaking two weeks ago. It's really bad now. I'm going to AutoZone here in a few to get a battery. I figure I'll wait until the other goes before replacing them with a high dollar battery. I had the POS battery in my 99 Z71 do the same thing. F%@K AC Delco batteries. I've got some white residue on my frame and on the fender well liner.

My batteries didn't leak yet, but were starting to get a bit weak. The stereo could eat those poor Delco's alive. Just replaced them with the yellow tops and now I have cranking power I need  ... and the truck starts too! smile.gif

I believe it's always best to replace both batteries at the same time even if one is still OK. Since the batteries are wired in parallel, they may fail prematurely due to overcharging if they are not balanced (equal load resistance). smile.gif
