I want to put the Edge in my Dmax but i'm worried about what it will do for my gas Mileage.

Does it get better or worse?

My 03 D/A got about 3-4 mpg better with juice Attitude, does great job at towing. no problems

I've got the Edge (Attitude display/control package highly recommended, love the overhead console mount - got the entire package for under $700). I put it in just after Christmas, and always run it in Power Level 1 (heavy towing and best fuel economy), but I don't tow anything and don't hot-rod at all. Even though I track my mileage to the max, I don't see much difference. Weather's been too cold too long, too much idling... can't say accurately yet. My best guess at this point is that I picked up about 1/2 to 3/4 mpg - not as good as I expected/hoped.

It would be interesting to see a poll on Edge Juice fuel economy impact, but I think that the D/A model year has a lot to do with the impact, too - particularly on either side of the 2004.5 line.

But at the same time, there are a lot of other advantages, too. (Let me know if you want my rundown.) I read a lot of rave reviews from owners who say it makes a world of difference towing in Level 1 or Level 2, particularly pulling up grades without downshifting.

As they warn, if you install it and grow a lead foot, you WILL see your fuel economy drop. However, I've never read any owner saying that he didn't hot-rod and still lost fuel economy.

Does it get better or worse? I also put in an edge for towing and fuel economy. Power adder is awesome, fuel mileage did not change as significantly as I would have liked. The factory told me to expect 10%, which is arond 2MPG. Not even close. I run ariund on 1,2 or 3 depending on my mood. Even when I keep my foot out of it the mileage is the same. But the power diff is unbelieveable.

As Brian DMT mentions, I also noticed about 1/2 to 1 mpg increase using the Edge Juice over stock. I believe this comes mainly from the change in injector timing (performance instead of emissions).

For the LB7, if you run with the Attitude set to level 0, only the timing is changed (no fueling is added).

Not sure about the LLY, I have read varying information as to whether the timing is left in or removed on level 0.

As kennedy's remarks show milage calculating is a science. In order to compare economy truck to truck, or chip to chip you need to test your stuff using the same weight and same speed and same driving habits and if you have wind, the same direction. Having said that, I live 3 hours East of the rockys. The main highways run East and West, almost always a West wind Blows and often very strong, When you drive West you push wind and gain signifigant elevation. So when people brag or complain about their fuel economy I imediatly ask which direction they were going when they clocked it.
so when you are talking to people about fuel numbers ask lots of questions.
By the way I am very interested in this topic because I just ordered a 3500 D/A and naturally I want all the power and economy I can get. Anyone who can find a good comparison between modifications let us know.In The mean time I'm following Mr. Kennedy around.

Kennedy, sure wish I had all of those toys to try out. So Is your opinion that you will always get slightly better mileage with the VA or EJ rather than run stock, all else(right foot pressure) being equal.

Honestly, I doubt there is any huge economy gain when adding a module like many claim. I see a lot of guys getting just as good of results without a chip. I'll have to try it some time, but it's hard to do when you are addicted to the power. Fuel additive is one simple no brainer. By using FPPF, I see quieter operation, cleaner, better lubricated fuel system, and a small economy gain to boot!

Buy chips for power, and driveability etc. and if you get verifiable mpg gains, BONUS!!!!
