View Full Version : Big Fuse?
I read somewhere that the big fuse provided with the trailer harness was required to get a charge on the trailer batteries. I seem to remember that the fuse was not needed with the extra battery. If I do need to install it where does it go? I could not find anything in the manual. Thanks..
Hi motovet
If you want to provide power to a trailer and charge the trailer batteries using the factory wiring, you must install that fuse. Under the hood, next to the driver

Go to 2500/3500 Accessories and click on "Battery
charger question". That should help in understanding your setup. I too had the exact same question.

Geo ~ Its just the reverse. Chk it out. The 40A goes into Stud #1. ;) ~ odoh
Thanks for the info! I have been towing a long time without that fuse. It seems the directions that came with the harness were misleading.
Motovet ~ Everyone has a prob w/the manual. We were at a campground over the 4th holiday and several folks w/trailers were having the same discussion/question. I wonder if the manual was referring to "aux battery" as being the battery on the trailer? who knows? ~ odoh

Thanks, I was going by memory concerning the stud numbers. Did I get the location correct? My truck is 150 miles from where I am at work.
