View Full Version : Rear Differential oil capacity
Hi just changed the rear diff. oil last weekend and it took about 2.7 quarts to fill it back up. Does this sound right. How much should it take. I've got the 2002 6.0 4x4 crewcab. I've searched everywhere on this forum and can't find it, any help would be appriciated. I know the 11.5" rear ends the D-max's and 8.1's have are taking 4 or 5 quarts.

I don't know the exact amount (it should be in the owner's manual) but if you were on level ground and filled it till it came back out the fill hole, it's full.

When I did mine I bought 5 quarts cause I couldn't get the bottles completely empty. I figure it took a 4 to 4 1/2 quarts.
The manual states recommended fill capacity is just below the filler plug hole for all 2500HD's and 3500's, however, most are using 4 quarts and it does not spill out the filler plug hole.
