What is the difference in the suspension between the 2500HD and the 3500. Can a 2500HD be upgraded.

Is it more than one spring leaf. Do you have any suggestions? Air bags? Air Adjustable Shocks?
Soemthing better than Hellwig's?

Any adivise is welcome. This is mostly to accomidate a camper.

Thanks

It's been discussed before. Springs and tires. 6084 axle capacity for the 2500 HD. Coincidence the tires are rated for 3042 a piece? ;)
The 3500 SRW addresses this problem with larger tires with greater load capacity.

Peachin,
I have put on AirLift airbags in the rear and Gabriel Hi-Jacker Air Shocks all the way around. The truck rides perfect when air pressure is right. I just hauled my Elkhorn camper, about 4000 lbs and my boat, about 4500lbs to northern Quebec (lots of mountains and bad roads). I would not make this trip without the airbags at minimum. The Gabriels reduce bouncing, both front and rear, to a minimum. When unloaded, I air down and the truck rides like a dream. I found Summitracing.com the cheapest for the airbags.
This is the second GMC I've done this to. I had a third, 1977 4x4 that I added a lot of extra springs and the airshocks and it did not compare with the airbags.
