Took her in for the bearing notice on the steering rattle. Now the steering is so bad they are putting in a new dteering box. They could not get all the play out, and gave up. Good timing...32K miles on her.

BOOMERHD,

Is the bearing replacement now a TSB? I've had the intermediate shaft lube done twice. Fixes it for about 2 weeks. I want to take it back in, but not till the bearing fix is a TSB. I tried to explain about the bearing last time, but unless they see it as an approved fix I'm out of luck.

I only got about 2-3 weeks on my "lube job" also. Talk about an ironic name... :D :D

SWLA, It is a approved fix..Just because they havnt made a so called "service bulliten" out of it..Dont let them get out of warrenting your truck by putting you off till your warrenty is up..

Call GM and complain if need be..

Has GM made a production change to correct this problem? If so when was it introduced? I am asking because it seem like my new 2003 truck at delivery is loose, feels like the bearing are not tight enough.
thanks.

The guy at GM told me the replacement steering box would be the same as the original, meaning it may need to be retorqued to the proper specs to tighten it up...

The bearing kit-retorque fix sure cured mine..

On a side note: I have been laid up here at home since wed from knee surgery and havn`t drove my baby or seen it since then..Sniff,sniff,,I sure do miss it....I am gonna hobble out to the garage tommarrow and look at it.. smile.gif

I just noticed at the bottom left of the post message page where is says Instant Graemlins is spelled wrong..

Shouldnt it be Gremlins??

Paintdude,
Thanks, I will add this to my list of items to be fixed. Spelling does look wrong.
