My`92 6.5TD started stalling and cranking long to start.230,000mi. with original injectors,pump,glow-plugs,lift-pump,and OPS,I figured it was time for replacement(of the first three,I thought).It was cutting-out on the way to town,turned for home,won`t start at all,now.Started looking into it,realized can`t hear lift-pump,then that the oil pressure guage whips to the peg when key is turned.Is this a characteristic of a bad OPS?Seems obvious,this would explain the"silent"lift-pump.Replacing these will be the first step.Also,would"service fuel filter"light up for this failure?Light stayed on after replacing filter?
