View Full Version : 2003 cabin filter
I know this was discussed but I don't think I saw an answer.
Do the 2003 trucks have a changable cabin filter???
If so, where are they located in the truck???
I have drawn a complete blank on trying to find mine.
Thanks, Don
Don G, yes this has been discused before and you can use the search engine on the front page to find it,but, the filter is located inside the plastic cover just above where the passenger`s feet go on the right side of the cab. There are 3 screws holding the cover in place but you don`t really have to take out the one on the left end of the cover which is in front of the console. I have been told that the 03`s don`t come with a filter element in them but you can see where it goes when you take the cover loose.

I have a 2003 identical to yours and mine does not have a place to put the filters. Mine looks quite a bit different that the post that had the photo of the housing. It appears that it was redesigned for 03.
If you go to the following link you will see where we have already gone through most of the discussion on cabin filters:

I have an 03 and have not taken the cover off to have a look because it seems as said above there is no slot to put the filters in the 03 as there was in the 02's
hope this helps

Thanks for all the replies, but it seems we have come full circle again without an answer to whether the '03 have a place for the filters.
I still can not find one.
Don
If I get a chance this weekend I will take mine apart and have a look. It was such a $hit job when I did my 02 that I really didn't want to go there.
I thought that ct0218 made it quite clear in his last post the link I posted:
"It appears that the filter/fan housing has been redesigned for 03. Just did a side by side comparison and there is no opening for filters, and the design is different"
Like I said...its a $hit job to take that housing out but if I get a chance I will just to make sure.
Have you taken your housing out and had a look? If not maybe you can take yours out and post what you find or maybe someone else can confirm if there is a slot for the filters or not.
hope this helps

Well I got a chance to drop the cover over the heating unit on my 03. As ct0218 said in the previous discussion about this before there is no place to put a filter in the 03. I did change the filters in my 02 and it was a Bast##d as everyone indicated. In the 03 the cover just drops down and no place for a filter and its just as bad getting the 03 off as it was the 02......don't go there is if you don't have to.
Hopes this helps

ccds,
Thank You very much for the effort to locate the filters. That saves me from buying a filter that I could not use. I wonder why GM feels that we no longer need filtered air in the 2003 trucks!!!
Again thanks for the work. I do not have access to my truck this weekend.

no problem, I was curious myself just didn't want to go there but now I know.
