Time has come to look for another D-Max and wanted to know if those of you that have replaced yours got a good price for your old one. The Kelly and NADA show around 30K. Is this close?

2001 D-max X-cab, 40000 miles, sle.
Was offered 26000 from the dealer on a cash-cash deal. I advertised it and got 28500 from the first person to look at it. I might have been able to get more with some time, but my new one was on the lot so I was motivated.
No our trucks are not holding their value, but no used vehicles are holding value in the current market.
There are alot of people that purchased their 2001, and early 2002 trucks for more money than you can buy a new 2003 due to the incentives.
As long as the auto manufacturers keep offering more incentives the used vehicles are not attractive.

I just traded my 01 CC 2500HD 8.1 \ Allison with 24,000 miles which stickered for $37,000 new for a new 03 CC 2500HD D\A which stickered for $45,200 for $11,200 difference tax \ fees and all :D needless to say I got a HECK of a deal!!!
I was able to buy the truck for GM Supplier price which brought the price down to $39,600 on the 03 plus I got $2250 in factory rebates.
So actually the dealer allowed me $26,800 for my trade, if you look at the "real" numbers.
I just checked the value on my truck at the bank today. Their book places the value somewhere near $28,600. This for a truck I paid a bit over $38,000 for 19 months ago. Full boat LT package as described below.
That "beautiful" Truck I traded in brought me 33,600 with 24k on it. I bought my 03' for 42,000. After tag, tax and title I spent a little over 10,000 for the trade. I could have sold it for more but I was pressed for time. I would have needed at least 35,000 to sell it out-right. I think that "tax" would have been about 700.00 or so, if I did not trade. If you have a good dealer, take the punch. When my truck has a problem I can make a call and have it in the shop that day, even if their service is packed! smile.gif In turn for the punch, I get service. Most people look at up front price and not long term price/service. I'll take a hit for "great" service anyday. ;)

I like the idea that we can keep these trucks along time..That is a real value in itself..
They gave me 29,000 for my 2000 Z71 on trade on my 02 Dmax..This was one hell of a deal..12,000 difference out the door with a GMPP 6 yr 60,000 mile 0 deductable..
I am just glad I didnt have a Dodge to trade..One of my customers tried to trade his 2000 Dodge std cab, long bed,4 by 4,Ram full size, with leather-loaded , with 78,000 miles on it for a new Ford last week..They offered him,,,,, are you ready for this??????
11,000 on trade...... :(

Paintdude,
When you say they allowed you $29,000 for your 2000, I assume you are using sticker price on your 02?
If I figured mine that way the dealer allowed mw $32,800,for my 01 with an 8.1, not too bad for a 2 year old truck with 24K miles that stickered new for $37,000 :D

The difference in money amount is all that matters and as long as we are happy ..
They included the rebates on my deal also..My 02 Duramax was almost 43,000 list price..The 2000 Z71 stickered at 33,500..I forget all the details now, but I do remember how much I wrote the check for, just under 12,000$.. smile.gif I got the warrenty for 100 over cost...
We both got great deals..and great trucks.. smile.gif
Study the blue book pricing sometime and compare what options they allow you for on trade and what ones they do not..It can be very interesting..
